Intramural activities available through Recreational Sports Center

Participating in intramural activities at the Recreational Sports Center is a great way to stay active and add variety to the workouts required for the orange self-report apple in Healthy Purdue 2009.

The center offers intramural programs in sports including soccer, softball, basketball, sand volleyball and dodgeball. Programs last between five and eight weeks, and some have a registration fee.

The registration deadline for several spring intramural activities is March 3-4. The lineup can be found at www.purdue.edu/RecSports/programs/imdeadlines.html.

While all sports have an open division in which graduate students, faculty, and staff can compete, flag football in the fall and basketball in the spring semesters have a league designated specifically for participants depending on their University affiliation.

A Rec Sports membership is required to participate. Members also are entitled to the full benefits of the Colby Fitness Center, pickup games of basketball, racquetball, squash, and use of the Boilermaker Aquatic Center.

Anyone interested in participating must turn in a registration form and appropriate registration fee to the Recreational Sports Center’s welcome center, located on the main floor of the RSC. Individuals who are not signing up as part of an established team can post their information on the free agent board outside the RSC Intramural Office or on the Purdue University Intramural Sports Facebook group to find a team.

Participation in intramural activities can add variety and fun to the workouts required for Healthy Purdue's orange self-report apple. To receive the orange apple, people must exercise for 30 minutes most days of the week for six months in 2009.
