Donna Cumberland strives to help Purdue's researchers make discoveries as quickly as possible. Cumberland is director of research services in ITaP, and, for a short time, also interim director of teaching and learning technologies in ITaP. In those roles she works to make research computing and classroom technologies as helpful as possible for users on campus.

Purdue professor Joseph Francisco has been elected into the National Academy of Sciences, one of the highest honors given to a scientist or engineer in the United States.
The School of Nursing will offer a limited number of employee wellness screenings on Tuesday (May 7).

Deborah Knapp, the Dolores L. McCall Professor of Comparative Oncology at Purdue, has received a grant from the Animal Cancer Foundation for a two-year study on bladder cancer therapy.
General news
Leah H. Jamieson, the John A. Edwardson Dean of Engineering, and President Mitch Daniels stand with Purdue alumnus Akshay Kothari during a recent trip to Silicon Valley. Kothari, who graduated from Purdue in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, is one of the founders of the Pulse news reader app, which was acquired last month by LinkedIn in a $90 million deal. Thanks to an anonymous donor, the College of Veterinary Medicine now offers a fully endowed teaching program in poultry medicine.
The Purdue Tri-Service ROTC Hall of Fame is accepting nominations for the 2014 class.
