Purdue merges marketing office into public affairs, eliminates vice president position

Purdue will consolidate the Office of Marketing and Media with the Office of Public Affairs under the direction of Julie Griffith, vice president for public affairs, President Mitch Daniels announced Monday (April 22).

APSAC elects new vice chair

The Administrative and Professional Staff Advisory Committee (APSAC) elected Andrea Thomas vice chair during its meeting April 10.

BoilerBackpack gives researchers 100 gigabytes of storage, removes file limits

The latest offering in Purdue's BoilerBackpack storage suite, researchBackpack, offers researchers 100 gigabytes of file storage and eliminates limits on the number of files that can be stored. Users of ITaP's research cluster supercomputers were limited to 5 GB of home directory storage. BoilerBackpack offers 100 GB of free space to all faculty, students and staff.

Confluence upgrade to let Purdue wikis be open to the public

Confluence, Purdue's Web-based wiki software, will be undergoing a scheduled upgrade May 11-13. The service will be unavailable during this time. Among other improvements, the upgrade will give users the option to open Purdue wikis to the public.

U.S. Coast Guard accredits analytical system developed at Purdue

In efforts to prioritize and efficiently manage the repair of boats and stations damaged by Superstorm Sandy, the U.S. Coast Guard has accredited a system called Coast Guard Search and Rescue Visual Analytics (cgSARVA) developed in collaboration with Purdue.

Purdue's West Lafayette commencement to be shown live on TV, webcast

Spring commencement ceremonies at Purdue's West Lafayette campus will be broadcast live for television and Internet audiences. The ceremonies will take place on May 10, 11 and 12 in Elliott Hall of Music.

Sinkhole expert: Urban development common culprit of sudden collapse

Although water main breaks can cause sudden holes to open up as they wash away dirt and material, much like the one that swallowed three cars in Chicago, a different issue of urban development is more often responsible for such collapses, according to a Purdue sinkhole expert.

Big Ten announces women's tennis tournament bracket

The Big Ten Conference on Monday (April 22) released the bracket for the conference's women's tennis tournament in Bloomington, Ind. The Boilermakers are the No. 4 seed and will play at 10 a.m. Friday (April 26) against the winner of Thursday's No. 5/No. 12 matchup between Illinois and Michigan State.

Big Ten announces men's tennis tournament bracket

The Big Ten Conference has released the bracket for the 2013 Big Ten Men's Tennis Tournament in Columbus, Ohio. The Boilermakers earned the No. 9 seed and are scheduled to face the No. 8 seed Wisconsin at 9 a.m. Thursday (April 25).
