The trees on Purdue's West Lafayette campus are more than just beautiful sights for Tim Detzner -- they represent the mark of a job well done for more than three decades. As an arborist for Purdue, Detzner is part of the group that is responsible for managing all of the trees on campus. General news
Purdue has announced its first awards for outstanding effort in engagement with local, state, national and global organizations. The winning efforts by faculty in engineering, health and human sciences, education, and pharmacy range from helping local schools teach English learners to providing a food distribution program for HIV patients in Africa.

The seven sirens placed around Purdue's campus will be activated intermittently between 9 a.m. and noon Saturday (March 30) as part of a Tippecanoe County Emergency Management testing.
Football head coach Darrell Hazell will serve as spokesman for the sixth-annual Purdue Challenge, a 5K run/walk on April 13. All proceeds from this public event directly benefit the Purdue University Center for Cancer Research.
Purdue faculty and staff are invited to visit and participate in a student-run diversity project called Purdue 360: All Perspectives. It will take place April 1-5 at Memorial Mall.

Biochemistry student to receive G.A. Ross Award
President Mitch Daniels and Danita Brown, dean of students, stand with Gabriel Rangel, who was named the recipient of the 2013 G.A. Ross Award on Thursday (March 28). The award is presented annually to Purdue's outstanding graduating senior man who demonstrates high standards of academic achievement, outstanding leadership, strength of character and service to Purdue and community. Daniels and Brown were part of a group that surprised Rangel, a student from Indianapolis who is in the Department of Biochemistry, during a class Thursday morning.

The weekend softball series between Ohio State and Purdue originally slated to be played at the Boilermaker Softball Complex has been relocated to Buckeye Field in Columbus, Ohio, due to field conditions.
