Going extreme

Purdue graduates Wade Miller and Frank Hereda, the owners of Bellamy Homes in Charlotte, N.C., partnered with Extreme Makeover Home Edition to expand a family's living quarters and life opportunities -- all within a week. Purdue Alumnus magazine chronicles the duo's work with the show and on the new home in its November/December 2012 issue.

* The episode of Extreme Makeover Home Edition featuring Miller and Hereda is scheduled to air at 8 p.m. Dec. 17 on ABC.

Purdue Today schedule for semester break

Purdue Today will reduce its publishing schedule during semester break. It will be published today, Thursday and Dec. 17. Purdue Today will resume daily publication on Jan. 7.

'5 Students Who ...' nominations wanted

Faculty and staff are encouraged to nominate students they consider to be Style Makers for the March "5 Students Who ..." website. The deadline for nominations has been extended to Friday (Dec. 14).

Momentum Makers nominations sought

The Purdue Today staff is seeking nominations for the monthly Momentum Makers series, which highlights Purdue employees whose job performances are exemplary. Sports historian: Boxing close to being down for the count in U.S.

Boxing will need more than any legendary status for the Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Marquez fight Saturday (Dec. 8) and their ongoing rivalry to regain its popularity in the United States, says a Purdue sports historian.

Forty-six Purdue student-athletes received Academic All-Big Ten recognition when the conference office announced its lists of fall honorees Thursday.
