The final President's Forum of the calendar year will take place 8-9:30 a.m. today (Dec. 4) in Stewart Center, Rooms 302-306, and a live webcast will be available. The forum will open with a brief campus update by acting President Tim Sands, followed by a presentation/discussion titled "Purdue: Four Campuses, One University."
Purdue announced Monday (Dec. 3) that it will close its construction inspection department on March 2.
The Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI) is seeking applicants for special pre-doctoral training awards in translational research.

Spanish-speaking children in Indiana are learning how to spell and read their native language as part of a Purdue research and community project to help students improve their bilingual skills and achieve academic success.
Purdue students completing a mechanical engineering senior design course will demonstrate a diverse collection of inventions, from a hovering skateboard to a heart-assist device and a foldable wing for a flying car.
Parents are often tapped to review drafts from their high school students' papers, and a Purdue online resource can help them sharpen their editing skills, especially when it comes to unintentional plagiarism.
Research news
Water transforms into a previously unknown structure in between a liquid and a vapor when in contact with alcohol molecules containing long oily chains, according to Purdue researchers. However, around short oily chains, water is more icelike.

The buzz is building around Mackey Arena ahead of this weekend's NCAA Volleyball Regional, which features Purdue, Minnesota, Kentucky and Penn State. All-session tickets are on sale now.
