Game Starters: Rita Zawisza

Before the team takes the field and the referee calls for kickoff, Purdue staff members play their part in making football games successful. Each Friday before a home game, a staff member who is integral to game day will be featured in Purdue Today's Game Starters series. This week's Game Starter is Rita Zawisza, associate director of events for the John Purdue Club.

* Boiler Bridge Walk and pep rally: The Boiler Bridge Walk will start at 5:40 p.m. today (Nov. 2) at the fountain on the West Lafayette side of the John T. Myers Pedestrian Bridge. The pep rally follows at 7 p.m. at the Class of 1980 courtyard between Purdue Memorial Union and Stewart Center.

* The Purdue football team takes on Penn State at 3:30 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 3). Ticket information is at www.purduesports.com.

* Purdue Military Appreciation Day: Purdue will salute veterans and active duty military personnel Saturday. Activities include video and music tributes, a pregame flyover and recognition of students in the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities program, which is aimed at helping post-9/11 veterans with disabilities start their own businesses. The EBV students will arrive at the game with the Purdue "All-American" Marching Band, and later that day will receive certificates from Lt. Gen. C.D. Moore II, commander of the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center.

* Before the game, Purdue Bands & Orchestras will present "Thrill on the Hill" at 1:30 p.m. at Slayter Center.
