TODAY'S THEME: REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE

Desktop computer recycling helps environment, provides revenue

Outdated or older desktop computers, which many would consider trash, are now reusable or recyclable thanks to an innovative University program. As the result of a campus-wide collaboration involving representatives of the Physical Facilities Warehouse and Surplus and Radiological and Environmental Management (REM) departments and ITaP, computer components are securely reused or recycled using an approach that is fiscally and environmentally responsible.

Today's events

Green Week 2012

* Today, there will be a Green Week celebration that will include a tree planting at 3:30 p.m. near Memorial Mall. Refreshments will be served on the mall from 4 to 6 p.m., and during that time, the winners of a student-focused Green Week photo scavenger hunt and an energy-saving competition in the residence halls will be announced.

Benefits open enrollment starts next week; watch for
enrollment guide

Employees should watch for the delivery of their Enrollment Reference Guide as open enrollment for 2013 benefits gets under way next week. Employees will enroll through EBenefits, Purdue's online benefits system. Enrollment will be open Oct. 29 through midnight Nov. 16.

More flexibility in entering and managing grades is one of the advantages Purdue's transition to the new Blackboard Learn offers faculty. Learn's Grade Center allows instructors to monitor student progress by recording, calculating and filtering grades, among other features.
