Peter Hollenbeck has been fascinated with cell biology ever since he received a miniature microscope for Christmas at age 10. As a child, Hollenbeck studied pond water samples. These days, he tackles the mysteries of nerve cells -- the longest and some of the most complex cells in the human body.

University policy update

A revised Retirement Policy for Faculty and Staff (VI.F.9) goes into effect Sept. 15. The revised document clarifies the procedures for granting exceptions or deviations from the policy. The full policy can be found on the University Policies website at www.purdue.edu/policies.

Donation submissions are now being accepted for the Purdue Memorial Union's annual Christmas tree.

Rainfall around the state has rejuvenated drought-stressed lawns and pastures, leading many landowners to return to their lawn chores. With the increase in mowing after a long period of inactivity comes an emphasis on mowing safety.
