Purdue alumni celebrate with Southwest, the airline they helped launch
When Southwest Airlines celebrated its 40th birthday this year, Purdue alumni had reason
to be proud. Boilermakers were there since the airline's inception. Of Southwest's original 22 active pilots, 16 had a Purdue affiliation and one flew its inaugural flight. Purdue Alumnus magazine highlights a piece of Purdue history in its November/December issue.

Following three weeks of presentations and walk-in labs across the West Lafayette campus, benefits open enrollment assistance now moves to the Business Services Training Room (BSTR) in Freehafer Hall. Retirement recognition luncheons will be held in December for employees in the Office of the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost and the Office of the Executive Vice President for Business and Finance, Treasurer.
