New solar cell would self-repair like natural plant systems

Researchers are creating a new type of solar cell designed to self-repair like natural photosynthetic systems in plants by using carbon nanotubes and DNA, an approach aimed at increasing service life and reducing cost. "We've created artificial photosystems using optical nanomaterials to harvest solar energy that is converted to electrical power," said Jong Hyun Choi, an assistant professor of mechanical engineering at Purdue. Coroner says Liu died of accidental drowning

The Tippecanoe County coroner on Tuesday (Jan. 4) identified the body found Monday in a pond near the university's Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory as Jinhua Liu, the missing mother of a Purdue student. In a news relesase the coroner said that no foul play was suspected, and the cause of her death was accidental drowning. Read more...

The Big Ten Network's full Sunday night lineup debuts Jan. 9 with new episodes of "The Journey: Big Ten Basketball 2011," "Big Ten Basketball and Beyond" and "Big Ten Icons."
