Purdue outlasts Texas A&M in OT, heads to Sweet 16

Chris Kramer's drive past one defender and layup over another 6 inches taller than him with 4.2 seconds remaining in overtime sent fourth-seeded Purdue into the regional semifinals of the NCAA tournament with a bruising 63-61 victory over fifth-seeded Texas A&M on Sunday. Read more...

Accreditation site visit, forums being held this week

A 14-member review team is on campus this week and meeting with various individuals and groups as it wraps up its assessment of the West Lafayette campus and prepares to make a recommendation on Purdue's continued accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission.

* Faculty, staff and students are invited to participate in the accreditation visit by attending open forums scheduled for 3:15-4 p.m. Tuesday (March 23) in the following rooms in Stewart Center: faculty -- Room 313; staff -- Room 318; students -- Room 320.

* Accreditation steering committee co-chairs Christine Ladisch and Mark Pagano presented information about the accreditation process at the March 11 President's Forum. A video of that presentation is here. Powerpoint slides from the presentation are here.

Conversations on Teaching session to be Thursday

Purdue's Teaching Academy will hold its Conversations on Teaching session "Developing and Assessing Classroom Activities for a Messy World" from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. Thursday (March 25) in Room B-151, Lawson Computer Science Building. The session will be presented by Heidi Diefes-Dux, associate professor of engineering education, and Matthew Verleger, postdoctoral research assistant in engineering education. Read more...

Final week to participate in Recyclemania

Purdue is entering the final week of Recyclemania, a 10-week competition in which more than 600 college and universities are reporting recycling and trash data to determine who collects the most recyclable items per capita, the largest amount of total recyclables and the least amount of trash per capita. Faculty and staff can get involved simply by using the recycling bins in their buildings. Read more...

Quiroga finishes sixth at NCAA Wrestling Championships, Boilermakers 28th

Becoming just the fifth freshman in Purdue wrestling history to earn All-America honors, Boilermaker rookie Cashé Quiroga wrapped up his outstanding performance at the 2010 NCAA Championships in sixth place at 125 pounds. Quiroga guided the Boilermakers to a 28th-place team finish with 20.5 points. Read more...
