Unprecedented flooding in northern Indiana has claimed lives, homes and property and more flooding is expected. Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service has responded by delivering more than 5,000 copies of "First Steps to Flood Recovery," to people forced out of their homes and businesses. A Middle East expert and author will speak at Purdue on Jan. 24 as part of the Sears Lecture Series.

Shibley Telhami, the Anwar Sadat Chair for Peace and Development at the University of Maryland, will present "America and the Middle East: Where Are We, and Where Do We Go From Here?" at 8 p.m. in Stewart Center's Fowler Hall. Telhami also is a nonresident senior fellow at the Brookings Institution's Saban Center for Middle East Policy. More

Wodicka, professor and head of the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering, nominated Gelfand for the Eudoxia Girard Martin Memorial Staff Recognition Award.

Gelfand, an administrative assistant and extramural programs coordinator for biomedical engineering, is the latest recipient of the award, which was presented Dec. 10 at the annual clerical and service staff recognition luncheon in Purdue Memorial Union. More
