Purdue soccer wins Big Ten tournament

Purdue's women's soccer team won its first Big Ten title (regular season or tournament) after defeating Ohio State, 3-1, Sunday afternoon at the University of Minnesota's Robbie Stadium. The win improved Purdue's record to 19-2-2. More

Appointments, promotions, honors:

— Bente Fein will serve as director of advancement and major gifts for the College of Science, effective Nov. 26.

— The Krannert School of Management's Organizational Behavior and Human Resources Management Research area tied for 10th place with Northwestern University in a research productivity ranking by Texas A&M University and the University of Florida.

— Janet Afary, associate professor of history and women's studies, received the Keddie/Balzan Fellowship, which is awarded by the International Balzan Prize Foundation.

— The first runner-up 2007 Biennial Association for Humanist Sociology Book Award was received in October by Janet Afary, associate professor of history and women's studies, and Kevin B. Anderson, professor of political science, for their book "Foucault and the Iranian Revolution: Gender and the Seductions of Islamism."
