Piece of the moon lands at Purdue

Campus groups plan events to raise domestic violence awareness

A number of Purdue organizations are sponsoring events this week (Oct. 8-12) in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Beginning Wednesday (Oct. 10), the Clothesline Project, a display of T-shirts decorated as a testimony against domestic violence, will be on display in the Purdue Memorial Union Main Lounge. More

Assistant director chosen for Purdue College of Technology at Columbus/Greensburg

The College of Technology has selected Jack Head as assistant director of the college's locations in Columbus and Greensburg.

Head has been an adjunct instructor for the College of Technology since 2000, teaching courses in organizational leadership and supervision. More

Afghan faculty to speak, students to study at Purdue this fall

Students at Kabul University
Two visiting faculty members from Afghanistan's Kabul University will speak at Purdue on Wednesday (Oct. 10) about progress being made in expanding agriculture and agricultural education in that country, efforts Purdue is involved in through a program with the U.S. Agency for International Aid. Wednesday: McCoy Distinguished Lecture

Oct. 10. 3:30 p.m. Fowler Hall, Stewart Center. Speaker: Joseph S. Francisco, the William E. Moore Distinguished Professor of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences and Chemistry. Title: "From Earth's Atmosphere to Planetary Engineering of Mars: An Adventure in Chemistry." A reception will follow in the Stewart Center West Foyer. The lecture and reception are free and open to the public.

Wednesday: How Volunteerism Can Impact the World and Help with World Peace

Oct. 10. 7 p.m. Room 2290, Beering Hall. Ambassadors for Children Purdue Chapter event. Speaker: J.R. Pico, professor of Spanish, Indiana University Kokomo. Topic: Pico will discuss his volunteer experiences in Malawi, Africa, and discuss how students and others can have a significant effect on the world and world peace through volunteer travel and work.

Thursday: Hawkins Memorial Lecture

Oct. 11. 4:30 p.m. Room 161, ME. The Hawkins Memorial Lecture. Speaker: Richard O. Buckius, assistant director, Directorate for Engineering, National Science Foundation; and professor, Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering, University of Illinois.
