Fungus genome yielding answers to protect grains, people and animals

Fusarium graminearum
Why a pathogen is a pathogen may be answered as scientists study the recently mapped genetic makeup of a fungus that spawns the worst cereal grains disease known and also can produce toxins potentially fatal to people and livestock.

The fungus, which is especially destructive to wheat and barley, has resulted in an estimated $10 billion in damage to U.S. crops over the past 10 years. More

Parking lots to open later for Saturday's football game against Ohio State

The parking lots for fans attending the Purdue vs. Ohio State football game this weekend will open later than usual due to the late start of the game. The football game is set to begin at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, in Ross-Ade Stadium.

Recreational Vehicle lots will open at 6 p.m. today (Friday). All other lots will open Saturday at noon.

Homecoming fun to focus on Purdue's past, present

2006 Purdue Homecoming festivities
Purdue's Homecoming events will include new activities for students, as well as the traditional pep rally, parade, fireworks and family activities.

The week's events run Oct. 22 through Oct. 28, and include the noon kickoff Homecoming game on Saturday, Oct. 27, in which Purdue takes on Northwestern. More
