We seek up to 3 undergraduate Editorial Assistants to will commit approximately 6–9 hours a week. They will also receive 3 credit hours. Students will work with the editorial staff, faculty advisors, and program head to help facilitate the shared aesthetic and literary visions of the Sycamore Review journal, Purdue University’s internationally acclaimed literary journal, affiliated with Purdue’s College of Liberal Arts and the Department of English.

Interns will have strengths in the following either individually or in combination: 1) poetry, 2) fiction, and 3) digital publishing media. All interns will:
• Maintain active communication with the Sycamore Review staff
• Meet with the Sycamore Review Editorial Staff at least once every two weeks, virtually or in-person, to
discuss short and long term goals
• Read general fiction submissions and provide written summaries/comments for editors
• Help set up and manage the Sycamore Review table during visiting writer readings
• Assist the Editor-in-Chief in proofreading issues
• Assist the Managing Editor in mailing and shipping issues
• Act as Sycamore Review’s liaison to Purdue’s undergraduate student body and the Creative Writing club

• Ability to evaluate work with an eye toward the aesthetic goals and vision of the magazine, not simply
according to their own individual tastes
• Keen eye for proofreading and editing work according to the Sycamore Review’s preferred style guide
• Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with authors, editors, faculty and patrons
• Organizational and logistical skills to help cary each Sycamore Review issue from concept to completion
