Project Nuclear Waste Management: Challenges and Opportunities Program DUIRI - Discovery Undergraduate Interdisciplinary Research Internship Term Fall 2025 Status Accepted Research Area Global Security Description Long term nuclear waste management protects human health, the environment and the nuclear nonproliferation regime. Due to myriad technical, political, institutional, and cultural constraints, successful implementation of long term nuclear waste storage solutions (such as the creation of deep geological repositories) is rare. Through focused case studies, this project analyzes barriers to implementation and identifies mechanisms that may facilitate successful implementation.
