Recruit-BEST, a STEM Education project Individual Research & Mentoring Opportunities Summer 2025 Accepted STEM education Dr. Xinyu Zhang, Assistant Professor of Engineering Practice, is seeking undergraduate students interested in earning 1-3 research credits (involvement 3-9 hours per week) in engineering education research during Summer semesters in 2025. This position can be worked remotely with regular check-ins. This aims to evaluate the effectiveness and alignment of different recruitment strategies for engineering bridge and success programs based on the framework of diffusion of innovations and relationship recruitment. Xinyu Zhang The Undergraduate Research Assistant is going to support the literature review (application of diffusion of innovation and relationship recruitment on the collge recruitment) and professional communications (e.g., conference presentations and papers) of the project. The candidate is expected to be punctual, responsible, and responsive. Preference will be given to applicants from STEM, education, psychology, or similar degrees. The applicant should be familiar with One Drive, MS Office (Excel Spreadsheets, WORD, PowerPoint), able to search for detailed information from online sources and library database (peer-reviewed literature), and capable of working on multiple tasks and communicating with faculty in a timely manner. Experience with strong writing skills (emails, reports, etc.) and literature review are preferred. GPA 3.0 or above is preferred.
