Charity Woodard is a teacher and science department chair at Frankfort High School and is also a graduate student at Purdue University. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health from Purdue in 1999 and spent several years working in chemistry and microbiology laboratories until she returned to Purdue in 2006 to complete the Transition to Teaching in life sciences education. She has taught seventh grade science in addition to high school.

Charity currently teaches freshman biology as well as the full Project Lead the Way Biomedical Sciences curriculum which includes Principles of Biomedical Sciences, Human Body Systems, Medical Interventions, and Biomedical Innovation. She has been recently appointed as the science department chair and is a founder and volunteer for Fast Track Biology, an after school tutoring program. She has worked to develop an effective biomedical sciences program at Frankfort which includes laboratory extensions such as discussions with biomedical professionals and community members who utilize medical interventions and tours of industry and research facilities.

This spring she is launching the Frankfort High School chapter of HOSA – Future Health Professionals and the Environmental Stewardship Club. In addition to school responsibilities, she conducts 80-hour core training instruction for Project Lead the Way which allows teachers to offer Human Body Systems in their respective schools. She has worked to develop an effective biomedical sciences program at Frankfort which includes laboratory extensions such as discussions with biomedical professionals and community members who utilize medical interventions and tours of industry and research facilities. Charity will earn a Master of Science in Biology Education from Purdue this May. She lives at home with her husband Mike, daughter Ashli (who will also graduate from Purdue in May), and their four dogs. In her free time, Charity enjoys camping, gardening, movies, and family time.
