* Professor J. Paul Robinson's climb to the summit of Mount Everest to raise funds for AIDS research and awareness, and his work to create a testing device usable and affordable in Africa.

* Purdue Pete's head and how aviation technology people make it sturdy and lightweight enough to wear

* The Compliment Guys, what they've done and what they're doing.

* Purdue's first "green roof," an environmental asset and a learning lab on Schleman Hall, brought about by student effort.

* Purdue Solar Racing, a student organization that built an  international champion car that recorded the equivalent of 4,913 mpg.
