Webinar to focus on creating multiple choice tests

February 22, 2010

The Center for Instructional Excellence will present a webinar from Innovative Educators on "Meaningful Assessment: Developing Multiple Choice Tests that Measure Higher Order Thinking Skills" on March 4.

The webinar will be 3-4:30 p.m. in Deans Auditorium, Room 241, Pfendler Hall.

In this workshop, instructors will learn how to construct valid and reliable multiple choice tests. Although multiple choice tests generally measure memorization, they can be written to reflect higher-order thinking skills -- the thinking that promotes retention and transfer. Because class sizes are increasing, making multiple choice tests necessary, faculty need to learn how to develop tests that evaluate learning beyond memorization levels.
