Instruction Matters: Purdue Academic Course Transformation (IMPACT)
We are now accepting applications for our May 2026 IMPACT Week offering and Fall 2026 IMPACT Semester cohort for Purdue instructors at West Lafayette and/or Indianapolis.
All versions of IMPACT use a cohort-based model built around a strong faculty learning community (FLC).
Semester
- 13-session, semester-long program
- Offers our deepest dive into designing an engaging, student-centered course
- Completed in person or remotely
- Offered each Fall and Spring semester
- Begins the second week of the semester and ends the week before finals
- Weekly, 75-minute synchronous sessions with colleagues and support members
- An estimated time commitment of 3-4 hours per week over the semester
- A great option for those wanting to examine and align each element of their course, with input and support from their peers and our instructional design team
- Open to Purdue instructors of record who are faculty or staff at West Lafayette and Indianapolis who plan to teach the course for multiple semesters
- Upon completion of 3 major deliverables, participants receive a $10,000 incentive to support their teaching
Week
- 7-day, intensive experience
- Covers the core topics of designing an engaging, student-centered course and thinking through your big-picture course plan
- Completed fully remotely
- Offered each May, after finals week
- One week of facilitation + one week to submit all deliverables
- Content is done asynchronously with optional, daily “Coffee Talks” with colleagues and support team
- An estimated time commitment of 3-5 hours per day during the facilitated week
- May serve as an introduction to IMPACT, a refresher for past Fellows, or a chance to revisit a course plan
- Open to Purdue graduate students, faculty, and staff instructors at West Lafayette and Indianapolis
