Instruction Matters: Purdue Academic Course Transformation (IMPACT)

We are now accepting applications for our May 2026 IMPACT Week offering and Fall 2026 IMPACT Semester (until April 3!) cohort for Purdue instructors at West Lafayette and/or Indianapolis.

All versions of IMPACT use a cohort-based model built around a strong faculty learning community (FLC).

Semester

  • 13-session, semester-long program
  • Offers our deepest dive into designing an engaging, student-centered course
  • Completed in person or remotely
  • Offered each Fall and Spring semester
  • Begins the second week of the semester and ends the week before finals
  • Weekly, 75-minute synchronous sessions with colleagues and support members
  • An estimated time commitment of 3-4 hours per week over the semester
  • A great option for those wanting to examine and align each element of their course, with input and support from their peers and our instructional design team
  • Open to Purdue instructors of record who are faculty or staff at West Lafayette and Indianapolis who plan to teach the course for multiple semesters
  • Upon completion of 3 major deliverables, participants receive a $10,000 incentive to support their teaching

Week

  • 7-day, intensive experience
  • Covers the core topics of designing an engaging, student-centered course and thinking through your big-picture course plan
  • Completed fully remotely
  • Offered each May, after finals week
  • One week of facilitation + one week to submit all deliverables
  • Content is done asynchronously with optional, daily “Coffee Talks” with colleagues and support team
  • An estimated time commitment of 3-5 hours per day during the facilitated week
  • May serve as an introduction to IMPACT, a refresher for past Fellows, or a chance to revisit a course plan
  • Open to Purdue graduate students, faculty, and staff instructors at West Lafayette and Indianapolis
