Dr. Laura Claxton and Amanda Arnold, PhD candidate in the Motor Development Lab, received an invitation to speak to the Human Movement Department in the School of Medicine at National University in Bogotá, Colombia in May 2018. Dr. Claxton shared some of her recent research investigating the impact of concurrent task demands on infant postural control, and her work investigating the relationship between cognitive and motor processes in toddlers and preschoolers. Amanda Arnold shared the work she has completed in the Motor Development Lab investigating postural control abilities in typical and atypical infants as well as some preliminary results from her dissertation project looking at how carrying an object while walking may positively impact infants’ early word learning experiences.
