Development of a gait and balance assessment device, SmartGait™

July 1, 2016

It is important to identify and apply interventions to those at greatest risk of falling. SmartGait™ is a wearable balance and gait assessment device that can be operated by any individual in order to assess their balance and gait on a regular basis. The device was developed to be inexpensive and easy-to-use, in order to allow the assessment of large cohorts in a cost-effective manner. The balance and gait assessment will alert users or caregivers to fall-risk and changing health, in order to take preventive action.
