For my research statement for the website: Noah Lyon (Preferred name: Beau) is an M.S. student in the Fei Lab (Natural Resource Spatial Analysis Lab) at Purdue University using terrestrial and aerial LiDAR to improve tree-level volume and biomass estimation. His thesis tests how bark roughness biases LiDAR/QSM stem reconstructions by validating against high-fidelity water-displacement references and comparing results to standard allometric equations. His long-term goal is to work in an applied research organization advancing forest-health monitoring with remote sensing.
