What to Expect

Data Collection

Are you hosting/organizing a bowfishing tournament in Indiana? If so, we’d love to come and potentially take some of your fish off your hands! Our team is interested in attending tournament weigh-ins. At weigh-ins, we would like to talk with participants about how far they have traveled, how often they participate in tournaments and other information. We also want to collect information about the fish species harvested and size. This may be done onsite, or we will take them back to our facilities.  We will work with tournament organizers to ensure we do not impede or slow down the weigh-in process.

Concerns?

Participation in this research is completely voluntary! Any team that does not want to give us their harvested fish is under no obligation to do so. Teams that do donate their catch to this research project will not have to worry about disposal, we’ll take care of that for you!

We will ask if teams are willing to divulge where they got their fish from, and if they do, we will keep this information confidential. Our goal is simply to define what species of fish are harvested during bowfishing tournaments and the individual characteristics (size, weight, sex, etc.) of harvested fish.
