During recent years, recreational bowfishing has rapidly increased in popularity in the United States. This growth in popularity is in contrast to overall decreases in angler participation rates. The Indiana Department of Natural Resources is funding Purdue University to conduct research on the topic. The overall goal of this project is to learn more about bowfishing in Indiana. Purdue researchers will conduct a project aimed at understanding public sentiments about the sport, Indiana bowfishing participation, tournament structure, and harvest aspects (fish species of interest, invasive species removal, etc.).
