Researchers across discipline and practitioners share expertise and experience from the lens of their field. A brief panel presentation will lead to robust discussion on the regional response to COVID-19 and lessons learned. The aim of the discussion is to uncover connections in discovery and identify gaps in knowledge to inform steps moving forward. A summary report will be produced following the event.

Policy Brief and Op-Ed Overview Session

Purdue Policy Research Institute and the Scholars Strategy Network offer a 2-part session overview on policy brief and op-ed writing. The policy brief section will be presented by Dr. Rosalee Clawson, Professor of Political Science and former interim Director of PPRI. The op-ed section will be presented by Dr. Kathryn Brownell, Professor of History and co-editor of the Washington Post’s “History in the Making”.

Is Open Source Software “Eating the World”? The transformative role of principles of OSS

Dr. Sabine Brunswicker, Director of Purdue’s Research Center for Open Digital Innovation, and Dr. Stacey Connaughton, Director of the Purdue Policy Research Institute will host an online event featuring Kevin Christopher, founder and principal of Rockridge Venture Law. This event will focus on Open Source Software and its implication for innovation and society at large. The event will focus on four major topics: (1) OSS – Not just a fad but a phenomenon with broader implications; (2) Developing with OSS: What are the legal implications?; (3) OSS and Blockchains: Can principles of OSS help overcome the challenges of blockchains?; and (4) What can academia learn from OSS?
