Purdue trustees to vote on university's next president

May 7. 2 p.m. Stewart Center's Loeb Playhouse. Trustees will meet on the Loeb Playhouse stage to vote on a candidate to succeed Martin C. Jischke as Purdue's 11th president. Following the vote, the candidate will speak and be available to answer audience questions. A live Webcast of the vote and announcement will be available via the Purdue home page at https://www.purdue.edu. Journalists planning to cover the announcement must arrange for credentials in advance by contacting Larry Farr, Purdue News Service, at (765) 494-5014, lfarr@purdue.edu. The credentials will be available to journalists on Monday (May 7) at Loeb Playhouse prior to the announcement. A news release will be available to media at Loeb Playhouse and also will be sent via e-mail. An updated news release will be available after the announcement at Purdue's home page. Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman, John Engler to speak at Advanced Manufacturing Summit

May 10. 9:15 a.m. Stewart Center's Fowler Hall. Indiana Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman and John Engler, ex-governor of Michigan and president of the National Association of Manufacturing, will speak at Advancing Manufacturing VI: Manufacturing Competitiveness: Firm, Industry and Regional Imperatives for Success. Purdue to dedicate tennis center

May 11. 3:30-5 p.m. Indoor courts, Dennis J. and Mary Lou Schwartz Tennis Center. Purdue President Martin C. Jischke, Intercollegiate Athletics director Morgan J. Burke, Purdue men's tennis coach Tim Madden and two tennis players will provide remarks at the formal dedication ceremony of the tennis center. Dennis Schwartz also will speak. The $7.2 million facility was made possible by gifts from Schwartz, John and Connie Basham of Lafayette, and the Purdue Employees Federal Credit Union.

Seniors from ROTC to be commissioned during ceremony

May 11. 11 a.m. Purdue Memorial Union South Ballroom. Maj. Gen. Richard B. Moorhead, commanding general of the 38th Infantry Division of the Indiana Army National Guard, will commission approximately 50 graduating seniors from Purdue's Army, Naval and Air Force ROTC programs as second lieutenants and ensigns.

Purdue graduates to take part in commencement ceremonies

May 11-13. Elliott Hall of Music. Purdue will award degrees during four commencement ceremonies. Division I will be 8 p.m. May 11 with the College of Technology and the School of Management. Division II will be at 9:30 a.m. May 12 with the College of Education, College of Engineering and School of Veterinary Medicine. Division III will be at 2:30 p.m. May 12 with the colleges of Liberal Arts and Science. Division IV will be at 9:30 a.m. May 13 with the colleges of Agriculture; Consumer and Family Sciences; and Pharmacy, Nursing and Health Sciences. Journalists must have media passes to attend.

Dedication set for Discovery Park's Mann Hall

May 15. 1:30 p.m. Gerald D. and Edna E. Mann Hall, 203 S. Intramural Drive. A dedication ceremony will take place for the $12.4 million Mann Hall in Purdue's Discovery Park. The two-story building will provide laboratories and offices for the e-Enterprise Center, Center for Advanced Manufacturing, Regenstrief Center for Healthcare Engineering, Oncological Sciences Center and Purdue Homeland Security Institute. May 18. 3:30-5 p.m. Purdue Memorial Union North and South ballrooms. All-university retirement reception for Purdue President Martin C. Jischke. The event is open to members of the university and community and will feature brief remarks from board of trustees chairman J. Timothy McGinley and Jischke.
