Purdue’s next big move: The Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr. School of Business

Purdue’s Board of Trustees approved today (Feb. 3) the naming of Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr. School of Business, which will educate many business leaders of a technology-driven, free market economy and carry out top-notch research. The Krannert name that has designated the graduate program will continue to do so. University investment and philanthropic support are also announced, with a target total of $300 million.

Purdue trustees endorse 12th consecutive tuition freeze

The Purdue University Board of Trustees today (Feb. 3) endorsed President Mung Chiang’s request for a 12th consecutive tuition freeze, meaning students will see no increase in tuition through at least the 2024-25 academic year. To be formally approved by the trustees in late spring per state statute, after the legislative budget setting, base undergraduate tuition at Purdue will remain at $9,992 per year for Indiana residents and $28,794 for out-of-state students through 2024-25.

Purdue trustees discuss student housing, identify ways to increase capacity

The Purdue University Board of Trustees today (Feb. 3) indicated that an effort to increase housing capacity is underway so that more undergraduate and graduate students who choose to live in university housing can do so.

Trustees ratify faculty and staff positions, approve contract for new football coach and resolutions of appreciation

The Purdue University Board of Trustees today (Feb. 3) ratified two faculty positions and three staff positions and approved the contract for the university’s new football coach and resolutions of appreciation.

Trustees approve winter recess for 2023

At the recommendation of President Mung Chiang, the Purdue University Board of Trustees today (Feb. 3) approved for 2023 the addition of a three-day winter recess on Dec. 27-29 for faculty and staff on Purdue’s West Lafayette, Fort Wayne and Northwest campuses. The three days are in addition to approved university holidays already scheduled on Dec. 22, 25 and 26, and Jan. 1, 2024.

Chiang reports to trustees on strategic initiatives

In his report to the Board of Trustees today (Feb. 3), President Mung Chiang provided an update on Purdue’s Next Moves strategic initiatives: Transformative Education 2.0, Equity Task Force, Purdue Applied Research Institute (PARI), National Security and Technology, and Plant Sciences 2.0. He also outlined goals for the new School of Business, and reported on the education, research and industry partnership of semiconductors at Purdue.

Chancellor Dooley updates trustees on Purdue Global Moves

Chancellor Frank Dooley today (Feb. 3) provided the Purdue Global Board of Trustees with an update on Purdue Global Moves during its public meeting. Purdue Global Moves, announced in June 2021, are four strategic initiatives designed to help the university meet its goals of results, growth and innovation. Purdue Global Moves are motivated by and closely aligned with Purdue University’s Next Moves.

Underwood reports to board on College of Health and Human Sciences

In her presentation to the Board of Trustees today (Feb. 3), Marion K. Underwood, dean of the College of Health and Human Sciences, talked about achieving the highest level of excellence. HHS has seen 16% growth in undergraduate enrollment since 2018, its four-year graduation rate of 76% exceeds the university rate of 66%, and over 93% of 2021 HHS graduates found jobs or sought further education after finishing their bachelor’s degree. Many of the college’s programs have achieved high rankings, including hospitality and tourism management, which is No. 8 in the U.S. and No. 17 worldwide by the Shanghai World Rankings.
