Purdue provost named chancellor of Rutgers University-New Brunswick

The Rutgers Board of Governors announced Thursday (April 6) the naming of Purdue Provost Deba Dutta as its next chancellor of Rutgers University-New Brunswick. The appointment becomes effective on July 1.

Crystalline material could replace silicon to double efficiency of solar cells

A new material has been shown to have the capability to double the efficiency of solar cells by researchers at Purdue and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. Libai Huang, assistant professor of chemistry, says the new material, called a hybrid perovskites, would create solar cells thinner than conventional silicon solar cells, and is also flexible, cheap and easy to make.
