In school, Johannes Strobel was puzzled at the seemingly poor methods professors used to teach complex topics. This confusion led Strobel to become interested in how people learn, especially with human-made artifacts and processes such as those developed by technology and engineering.

Faculty Appreciation Day set for Old Oaken Bucket game

Purdue will celebrate its faculty on Nov. 24 with Faculty Appreciation Day in conjunction with the Old Oaken Bucket football game against Indiana University. As part of the celebration, faculty and staff may purchase sideline seats for $25 (half-price) for Purdue football's final home game of the season.

Purdue Today schedule for Thanksgiving break

Teri Lucie Thompson, Purdue's vice president for marketing and media, has been named the 2012 Higher Education Marketer of the Year by the American Marketing Association.

Purdue doctoral student named U.S. Kauffman Global Scholar

Purdue doctoral student and aspiring entrepreneur Landon Young has been selected as a 2013 U.S. Kauffman Global Scholar, a program led by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.

Purdue professor to discuss retail holiday trends in Twitter chat

As a preview to the holiday shopping season, Richard Feinberg, professor of consumer sciences and retailing at Purdue, will help lead a Twitter chat on key retail holiday trends at 1 p.m. today (Nov. 19). Feinberg will be joined by Jay Henderson, enterprise marketing management global strategy program director at IBM. Details on how to join and follow the discussion are here.

Purdue football: Bucket and bowl

It all comes down to Saturday. If the Boilermakers beat Indiana in the 88th meeting for the Old Oaken Bucket, they will earn their second straight bowl invitation under fourth-year head coach Danny Hope.
