Faculty see tablets as versatile teaching, learning tools

Since May 2011, the sight of students tinkering with iPads while their teacher looks on has been a common one in Lorraine Kisselburgh's classes. Kisselburgh, assistant professor of communication, is one of a growing number of Purdue faculty members who are using iPads, tablets and similar devices in the classroom. For Kisselburgh, these devices are more than just high-tech toys -- they're powerful tools that can transform the way students approach learning.

Weight Watchers at Work returns to West Lafayette campus; new incentive available

With the start of a new 17-week Weight Watchers program, WorkLife Programs is wiping the slate clean on the West Lafayette campus and introducing a new incentive. Regional campuses should check with their campus wellness program for Weight Watchers program details.

Email-based program aims to help participants make healthy, nutritional changes

WorkLife Programs' popular email-based program is continuing in October with a new monthly theme. Healthy Resolutions is a nine-month program geared toward helping participants change their health habits one month at a time.

New guidelines for professional master's programs have been approved and are ready for implementation at the West Lafayette campus.

Jim Mintert, assistant director of agriculture and natural resources for Purdue Extension since 2009, has been appointed interim associate dean of the College of Agriculture and interim director of Extension.

Purdue to host "The Tip-Off Before the Kickoff" on Oct. 12

Purdue Athletics will host "The Tip-Off Before the Kickoff" at Mackey Arena on Oct. 12, adding the official start of basketball season to the excitement of Homecoming weekend and the Boilermaker football team's clash with Wisconsin the following day at Ross-Ade Stadium.
