Nicholas Giordano

Nicholas Giordano plays the piano -- all 19 of the pianos that fill his recreation room. For Giordano, the Hubert James Distinguished Professor of Physics and head of the physics department, the piano is both a musical hobby and the focus of professional study. As a researcher, he has used Newton's laws to explore the physics of why the piano sounds like a piano, and the fruit of years of exploration was published in Giordano's book "The Physics of the Piano." Reminder: Reportable outside activities and individual financial conflicts

Faculty and staff are reminded once again that they are required to report outside activities and financial interests in accordance with University policy. The policies on Individual Financial Conflicts of Interest (X.2.3) and Conflicts of Commitment and Reportable Outside Activities (X.2.4) are posted on the University Policies website. Links to the necessary forms are provided in each policy’s Related Documents, Forms and Tools section.
