A message from President France A. Córdova

At the request of the Board of Trustees more than a year ago, we began a process to review our compensation and benefits. As part of that review, the University Senate requested that Hewitt Associates expand their previous study to include total compensation.

Several new compensation plans have been proposed and vetted over the past three months, ranging from a reduction in retirement contribution to “grandfathering” current employees. Each has benefits and drawbacks; all were considered carefully and discussed widely. Input from faculty and staff played a significant, influential role in the process. We are in a much different place with our resolution than where we began.

Today, the University’s Board of Trustees accepted our proposal and approved a new compensation plan for faculty and administrative/professional staff covered in the TIAA-CREF defined contribution retirement plan. Read more...
