Purdue Day at the Indiana State Fair featured more than 50 tents and exhibits from the University on Friday (Aug. 7). Purdue Day also included performances by Purdue Musical Organizations and Purdue Twirlers, a robotics demonstration, cricket spitting contests and cockroach races, and a pep rally with President France A. Córdova, Board of Trustees chairman Keith Krach, athletic director Morgan Burke, the Purdue spirit squad and Purdue Pete. A photo gallery of the day's events is available here.

Exhibits in the Pioneer Our Land Pavilion -- sponsored by Purdue University Extension and the academic areas of agriculture, consumer and family sciences, and veterinary medicine -- will remain open for the remainder of the fair, which lasts through Aug. 23.

Purdue graduates more than 1,200 at summer commencement

Purdue held its summer commencement ceremony on Saturday (Aug. 8) at Elliott Hall of Music. Among the 1,287 degrees conferred were 484 undergraduate degrees, four professional degrees, 445 master's degrees and 354 doctoral degrees. President France A.
