Purdue police warn of book purchase scam

Purdue police are warning students of a scam involving the purchase of classroom text books. In the scam, students are contacted by someone who offers to buy their used books. The alleged buyers tell the student they will send a check for more than the purchase price. The student is told to cash the check, then deduct the cost of the book, plus shipping, and quickly send the excess amount back to the alleged buyer. More

New student organization focuses on environmentally sound building practices

Kermit the Frog may have thought that it's not easy being green, but a new student group at Purdue would like to change that perception. Purdue GreenBuild is an organization open to students of all majors, as well as faculty and staff, who are interested in green building practices. More

Infrastructure not ready for all the ethanol to be produced in '08

By the end of 2008, the United States will have the capacity to produce 13 billion gallons of ethanol, but a Purdue expert said the maximum ethanol the market can handle is 12 billion gallons, and perhaps considerably less. More

John Jorgenson Quintet to bring gypsy jazz to Loeb Playhouse

John Jorgenson
The John Jorgenson Quintet will evoke the atmosphere of a 1930s Paris club with an array of gypsy jazz at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 14 in Loeb Playhouse.

The performance is presented by Purdue Convocations as part of its Frets on Fire series. Convocations also will present a pre-show discussion with John Jorgenson, who will illuminate the origins of gypsy jazz and his group's passion for performing it, at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 14 in the Stewart Center Gallery. Hiroshima atomic bomb survivor to speak at Purdue exhibit

A survivor of the Hiroshima atomic bomb will speak about her experience as part of the Hiroshima-Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Exhibition at Purdue. Sachiko Masuoka, an 85-year-old Hiroshima atomic bomb survivor and Chicago resident, will talk about her experience at 1 p.m. Feb. 23 in Room 200 of Wetherill Laboratory of Chemistry. More
