The Graduate Women in Engineering Network (GWEN) offers information and support to women enginerring students throughout their graduate school education. The GWEN team hosts various events for networking as well as gaining personal and professional development strategies.

  • Lunch & Learn Meetings are offered in-person, twice monthly that include networking activities and a guest speak or panel. A light lunch is served. 
  • Coffee & Conversation Sessions are offered virtually, once a month and is an opportunity to build your networking with other female engineering graduate students. 
  • Bagel Breaks are offered in-person, twice a semester for participants to drop by, touch base, and grab a bite to eat.

Mission of the GWEN Program
Mission

To provide a supportive environment for the purposed of sharing information and strategies to enable women engineering graduate students to achieve success personally, academically, and professionally. 

Program Objectives
  • Community: To establish an inclusive network that affirms, inspires, and supports women and gender minorities throughout the engineering graduate career. 
  • Strategies: To provide opportunities to develop skills and introduce strategies for professional and personal development.
  • Advancement: To provide an enriching experience that encourages individual growth, and furthers the community of women engineers. 
GWEN Travel Grants for Graduate Students

The Purdue Women in Engineering Program awards travel grants to graduate students in the College of Engineering who are presenting their research at a professional conference. Students must be actively engaged in the Graduate Women in Engineering Network (GWEN) program to be eligible. Priority is given to students who have not won this award before. The grants are for travel expenses incurred while attending professional conferences.

The WIEP travel grant is for up to $800.00. A letter of acceptance from the conference coordinator is required prior to receiving funds. No late applications will be accepted. Hard copies of the application are not accepted.
