Director, External Partnerships

Carol Houston serves as a director of external partnerships for Student Life. In this role, she works directly for the vice provost of Student Life, handling all scheduling, communication and projects for the Office of the Vice Provost.

Carol has more than 30 years in the marketing and communications field, primarily in the hospitality industry. She began working in higher education in 2003 when she became the marketing coordinator for Purdue Memorial Union. After 10 years of service in that role, Carol became the director of marketing for Housing and Food Services and, later, Student Life. As director, she facilitated strategic marketing decisions, graphic communications and marketing opportunities for the division. She supervised all materials produced, advertising and promotional placement, web content, and the outgoing message for the division. She additionally provided marketing consultant expertise to the senior directors and vice provost of Student Life.

Carol loves her job because she enjoys the variety of her days and loves working with people. Outside of work, Carol is involved with the Salvation Army, helping with their basket deliveries and the Red Kettle campaign. She also volunteers as the girls’ soccer representative at Jefferson High School for the booster club. Carol is a member of the American Advertising Federation – North Central Indiana (AAF-NCI) and the Association for Women in Communication. In her free time, she loves reading and spending time with her family and dog.
