Promoting, Unity, Respect, (through) Diversity, Understanding and Excellence. The Purdue Veterinary Medicine Office for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion works to broaden individual and collective understanding of and appreciation for diversity, cultural competence, and inclusive excellence within the College of Veterinary Medicine. Our faculty, staff and students are encouraged to increase cultural competence through curricular and co-curricular activities, as well as professional advancement opportunities. We aim to increase students' knowledge of issues pertaining to a diverse society and enable them to thrive in an inclusive environment. Our overarching goal is to lead by example, providing students with an idea of how to respond to multiple layers of diversity issues specific to the veterinary medical profession.

ASSISTANT DEAN FOR INCLUSIVE EXCELLENCE

Welcome to the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion!

It is with great pleasure to greet you as the assistant dean for the College of Veterinary Medicine. I hope the office of diversity, equity and inclusion is a place you will support whether by conversing in our office, participating in some of our pipeline programs, getting involved in the work, or just being an ally of support as we promote a college-wide culture where diversity, equity and inclusion are threaded throughout everything we do. In our college, we all understand the value in each other and our individual role in sustaining a climate that supports the working and learning experiences of our faculty, staff and students.

As an office driven by the engagement of issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion, I hope that you take the time to share with our office programming that you would love to see or support just by sending an email to pvmdivof@purdue.edu. Our goal is to implement diversity initiatives that are reflective of Purdue University’s College of Veterinary Medicine’s values and the community it serves.

The College of Veterinary Medicine here at Purdue is committed to diversity and inclusion. It is not something we take lightly, our goal is to cultivate an enriching professional experience through education and inclusive excellence. We strive to model innovative practices that introduces diversity into the systems, structure and culture of the college. By remaining strategic and intentional about increasing diversity beyond the numbers, we strive to streamline our efforts through research, academic programming and outreach, while building meaningful relationships across the globe.
