People

The Histology Research Laboratory is staffed by a director, a manager, 2 histotechnicians, and a student employee. Three board certified veterinary pathologists from the Department of Comparative Pathobiology are available for consultation and collaboration.

Facility

The Histology Research Laboratory, a division of the Center for Clinical Translational Research, is a CTSI-Indiana core research facility in the College of Veterinary Medicine. The Histology Research Laboratory (1952 sq ft) consists of two laboratories (one for soft tissue and one for hard tissue histology), a slide digitization room, an office and 2 necropsy rooms.

Equipment

The Histology Research Laboratory has equipment for routine paraffin (VIP Six Automated Tissue Processor, and a Tissue-Tek Embedding Station), plastic and cryo embedding. Equipment for slide preparation includes 2 Leica semi-automatic rotary microtomes, a Leica cryostat, and EXACT saw and grinding equipment. The laboratory has a Shandon automatic H&E slide stainer and a DAKO Autostainer for IHC. Slides are digitized using a Leica ScanScope slide scanner.
