Flavio Silvestre, DVM, PhD

Flavio Silvestre is the Dairy Technical Services Veterinarian for Zoetis. He received his D.V.M. degree from the Federal University of Minas Gerais in Brazil in 1997 and was in dairy veterinary practice for 3 years in Brazil, then moved to Florida to participate in the University of Florida International Dairy Farm Fellow program at North Florida Holsteins Farm in Bell from early 2000 to March 2001. He then returned to academia and received his M.S. (2003) and Ph.D. (2008) degrees in the Department of Animal Sciences at the University of Florida in Animal Molecular and Cellular Biology. The emphasis of his research was on hormonal methods and nutraceutical approaches to regulation of postpartum immunity and fertility of dairy cows. Dr. Silvestre joined Zoetis (Pfizer) after receiving his Ph.D. as a Dairy Production Specialist in the central valley of California. In March of 2018 Dr. Silvestre transitioned to his current role supporting the Midwest dairy region.
