Full-scale model of unmanned plane to be at Purdue airport

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -
RQ-4 Global Hawk

A full-scale model of the Northrop Grumman Global Hawk unmanned military aircraft will be on display Wednesday and Thursday (Sept. 9 and 10) at Purdue University Airport.

The model is coming to Purdue after a stop at Rolls-Royce in Indianapolis, where the AE 3007H engines that power the Global Hawk are produced.

The RQ-4 Global Hawk unmanned aircraft system is used by the U.S. Air Force as an intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft. Cruising at altitudes of more than 60,000 feet, it can survey large geographic areas with pinpoint accuracy, giving military decision-makers real-time information regarding enemy location, resources and personnel.

The public is invited to view the plane from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day. There is no charge.
