Cosier to step down as dean of Krannert School of Management

Cosier will remain at Purdue as the Leeds Professor of Management, a position he currently holds in addition to serving as dean.

"It's been an honor to lead our world-class faculty and be a part of the energy and dedication that surrounds Krannert," Cosier said. "My plan was to do this job for 10 years, and it will be 11 years next summer. It's time. I look forward to returning to the classroom and reconnecting with the students who drive this university."

Randy Woodson, Purdue's executive vice president for academic affairs and provost, said Cosier's leadership transformed the Krannert School.

"Krannert has enjoyed major strides under Dean Cosier's watch," Woodson said. "Rawls Hall was built, the number of endowed professorships increased, an international MBA was launched in Germany, and Krannert's national and international rankings continued to reflect the school's outstanding academic programs. While Purdue will miss his academic leadership, our students will continue to benefit from his teaching and mentorship."

Cosier joined Purdue in 1999 after appointments with the University of Oklahoma, Indiana University and the University of Notre Dame. During his tenure as dean, Business Week and U.S.News & World Report have consistently ranked Krannert among the world's top business programs.

Cosier also helped shepherd the creation and completion of Rawls Hall in 2003 through a $10 million gift from alumnus Jerry S. Rawls. The facility, on the corner of Grant and State streets, houses part of the Krannert School.

He is the immediate past chair of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, an international accreditation organization for business schools.

A committee to conduct a national search for a new dean will be convened by Woodson early this academic year.
