Appointments, honors and activities

- Boiler Bash, a welcome dinner organized by Purdue University Residences, is taking place from 5–8:30 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 16) on McCutcheon lawn as part of Boiler Gold Rush. There will be food and music at the event.

• Faculty and staff honors:

- Christian Butzke, Purdue enology professor, was named as the 2009-2010 American Society of Enology and Viticulture (ASEV) president. The ASEV is a non-profit professional society that is dedicated to the interest of enologists, viticulturists and others in the fields of wine and grape research and production throughout the world. As president Butzke's key responsibility will be to lead the 12-member board.
