June 3, 2009 Officials announce attendees of the 2009 Purdue Research Park Entrepreneurship AcademyWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Almost 50 Indiana high school students from 21 counties will attend the third annual Purdue Research Park Entrepreneurship Academy from June 21-26."These students, who come from every corner of the state, will have the opportunity to learn what it means to be an entrepreneur through hands-on experience during this weeklong event," said Tim Peoples, the academy's director. "They also will learn from Purdue University faculty, business experts and successful high-tech business entrepreneurs at the Purdue Research Park." Students in the program will test the viability of a business idea, identify capital needs to start a company and devise a management plan. The program is based on a methodology called "So what? who cares? why you?®" developed by Wendy Kennedy, a technology industry executive, professor and author. For the third year in a row, Kennedy will teach the methodology to the students. The event culminates with a competition, during which teams will present their capital needs and management plans to a panel of judges. Members of the winning team will receive tuition vouchers that are accepted by all Purdue University campuses and Ivy Tech Community College campuses in Indiana.
