Purdue holding information session on 22-month master's degree program April 21

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Those interested in learning more about a new 22-month master's degree program in technology from Purdue are invited to attend an informational session on April 21.

The session will be held at 5 p.m. at the Subaru of Indiana Automotive Training and Reception Center on Indiana 38 in Lafayette. The degree is offered through Purdue's Department of Industrial Technology in the College of Technology.

The master of science degree in technology will be offered beginning in fall 2009. The five-semester program will meet 5:30-8:30 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays at the SIA Training and Reception Center.

Mark Schuver, director of professional education in the College of Technology, said the degree program is designed for working professionals to develop innovation and technology leadership skills to help them advance their careers.

It is patterned after Purdue's Weekend Master's Degree Program, established more than 10 years ago, which meets for three weekends a semester for 22 months on the West Lafayette campus. Unlike the Weekend Master's Degree Program, the new program does not include a distance-learning component. All instruction is conducted by College of Technology faculty on-site.

The degree is coordinated through Purdue's Center for Professional Studies in Technology and Applied Research, created earlier this year to coordinate and implement professional programs available through the College of Technology.
