March 20, 2009 Purdue Student Union Board organizes free concert and open micWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue Student Union Board is hosting a Starbucks Music Series next week, which includes an Open Mic Night and a Starbucks Acoustic Show.At the Open Mic Night, that will take place from 7:30-10 p.m. March 27 at the Union Commons, participants can sign up to perform music, comedy or poetry for 15 minutes. The venue will be low-lit with candles at every table. Attendees are also encouraged to enter the free raffle for a basket of Starbucks merchandise. The Acoustic Show will feature Indianapolis-based band, Take the Sky, from 4-5 p.m. March 29 also at the Union Commons. Two of the four band members are Purdue alumni. Both events are free and open to the public. The Starbucks Acoustic Show and the Open Mic Night occur twice a semester. The Purdue Student Union Board's Concerts Committee has brought several bands in the past few years to play free concerts.
