Boilermaker Ball attracts sellout crowd

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - A record crowd of more than 500 alumni and friends of Purdue University attended the 2009 Purdue Alumni Association's Boilermaker Ball on Feb. 27 in Indianapolis.

"We had a tremendously successful event and are pleased that we exceeded last year's participation," said Kirk Cerny, executive director of the Purdue Alumni Association. "It's great to connect with so many loyal Purdue supporters, both campus friends and those from the Indianapolis area."

The second annual event, held this year at the Indiana Roof Ballroom, is open to Purdue alumni, friends, university administration and students. The ball featured a dinner, silent auction, dancing and other entertainment.

The event honors supporters of Purdue and is an important tool for engaging younger alumni, Cerny said.

The event is held each year in Indianapolis on the last Friday in February. Next year's Boilermaker Ball will be Feb. 26.
